Minister of Health and Population: The number of people with tumors in Yemen has increased in record numbers due to internationally banned weapons used in aggression

Minister of Public Health and Population Taha Al-Mutawakel confirmed Tuesday,   that the United Nations has failed to introduce the simplest medical capabilities, noting that cancer treatment centers in Yemen had experienced a record increase in the number of wounded since the start of the aggression and its bombardment with internationally banned weapons.

Dr Al-Mutawakel said at the inauguration of a cancer center at Kuwait Hospital in Sana'a that the performance of the World Health Organization in Yemen is poorand if it does not fulfill its duty to provide the most important medical needs, it must reconsider its working mechanism in the country, calling on the United Nations to at least allow the ministry to purchase these devices. The Minister of Health and Population said the number of patients has doubled since the start of the aggression against Yemen by 100% in areas that have been bombed with internationally banned weapons.

He pointed out that leukemia treatment centers receive around 7,000 cases each year in a number of governorates in Yemen, noting that the death rate of leukemia patients has increased by nearly half due to the scarcity medicines and materials to relieve their suffering.

DrAl-Mutawakel pointed out that most of the areas which have been subjected to airstrikes are filled with many serious diseases.

He noted that the Ministry is preparing a specialized integrated building to deal with all oncological diseases of the different governorates of Yemen under the direct guidance of the Chairman of the Supreme Political Council.
