The Minister of Health, Dr. Taha Al-Mutawakel, confirmed that the medical and health sector is one of the sectors most affected by the aggression and siege, pointing to some measures that have contributed to the resilience of the health sector.

In an interview, Dr. Al-Mutawakel said: "The aggression targeted the health sector directly," explaining that more than 50% of the health sector's infrastructure was affected by direct bombing.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Health worked on a national plan to save the health situation by directing support towards the necessary medical and health needs away from absurd spending, as well as working on community participation and the private medical sector involvement in the renaissance in the health sector.

Dr. Al-Mutawakel revealed that the Ministry of Health, after the field visit, provided the international bodies with what was medically required, stressing that health had not yet seen a sincere interaction to save the medical situation.

He stressed that the categories of children and mothers are among the most affected by the aggression and blockade, pointing out that the elderly and those with chronic diseases have been greatly affected as a result of the interruption of medicines and the lack of diagnostic and therapeutic devices such as magnetic resonance, radiation and others.

The Minister of Health considered that the resilience of the health sector in the past period despite the aggression and blockade relying on God and self-reliance, in itself, was a great achievement.

It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Health, in a statement issued this morning, coinciding with the sixth anniversary of steadfastness, that the aggression coalition completely and partially destroyed 523 health facilities, and bombed 100 ambulances, indicating that 50% of health facilities were out of readiness as a result of 6 years of bombing and siege.
